Building on our successful collaboration on Cambridge Manor, the Brenda Strafford Foundation and Clark Builders once again partnered for the construction of Clifton House—a unique community-based village designed for senior residents in Calgary.
Clifton House is a supportive living and long-term care facility that can accommodate 175 residents, offering specialized care for seniors, memory care residents, adults with delayed developmental challenges through the KINDD program, and individuals facing physical and/or memory challenges or chronic illnesses through the adult day program.
To bring this vision to life, our team engaged in a comprehensive three-year preconstruction phase, involving the phased removal and replacement of the existing Clifton Manor. Due to the economic impracticality of upgrading the old building, a new structure was deemed necessary.
The construction of Clifton House included a 1-storey parkade, with the southern half of the building comprising three-storey non-combustible construction, while the northern half features four-storey non-combustible construction utilizing steel, and concrete materials. Given the constrained site boundaries, the third-floor roof serves as an outdoor living space, maximizing the use of the available area.
Through fostering a strong sense of community and inclusivity, this project aims to create an 'Elder Friendly Community' in Forest Lawn, prioritizing the well-being of individuals from all backgrounds and abilities. Together, the Brenda Strafford Foundation, Clark Builders, and the local community are building a brighter future for seniors in Calgary.
