Partnering with Bantrel, Clark Builders developed 10 buildings totaling 165,710 square feet to house the components of the ConocoPhillips Surmont Water Treatment Plant. One of the buildings is a conventional structural steel building, with the remaining nine being pre-engineered; all the buildings received mechanical and HVAC systems.
The use of pre-engineered structures to create a water treatment plant required customization to ensure safe and effective functionality of the site. Pre-cast concrete panels were used to create containment barriers in five of the buildings. The Clark Builder team also supplied and installed two overhead cranes, two monorails, and roll-up and man-doors to meet the needs of the site.
Although the site for this project was in a congested area, requiring extensive coordination with the owner and other trades onsite to work around pipe racks, equipment, and other workers, the Clark Builders team delivered the project with an impressive safety record of over 400 days without incident.
