The Whitecourt Culture & Events Centre is a landmark project that aims to transform the cultural and social landscape of the town of Whitecourt. Located 200 kilometers northwest of Edmonton, the community of Whitecourt with 10,000 residents has been lacking proper arts and culture as part of the recreational services to date. The goal for the facility is to reinvigorate the economy and bring new life to the downtown core.
The project features two distinct but complementary components — infrastructure and community space. The infrastructure component, Project 1, will connect and complete the surrounding municipal infrastructure, services, roadways, parking lots, and street lighting. The community space of the project, Project 2, is a marvel of modern construction with a municipal administration space, commercial kitchen, a public library, a conference center, and a 600-seat performing arts center and galleria. The building will reside between the existing town administration building, firehall and provincial building to the south, as well as the expansive Rotary Park to the north. The building has been designed to offer programmable spaces, landscaped areas, and sufficient parking to accommodate all facilities. With its focus on sustainable construction management, the Whitecourt Culture & Events Centre is poised to become a sought-after destination for residents and visitors alike.
