The newly constructed 1,078,342 square foot Traditional Non-Sortable Facility for Amazon, is located in Calgary, reinforcing Amazon's presence in Canada and creating new job opportunities for the local community.
Our team played a vital role in the design process, ensuring that all project milestones were met for a project with an accelerated schedule. The construction of the facility required a high level of synergy between all stakeholders and a significant resource commitment.
The facility spans over a 990,000 square foot footprint and is constructed of structural precast and steel structure with a PVC sloped roof, and 9-inch concrete floor slab on cast in place pile foundations. The facility features 98 dock positions and two drive in doors, office fit-out space, mezzanine, six material handling lifts and one elevator. The site has two guardhouses, outbuildings, 26 hectares of developed area including 673 parking spots, 389 trailer parking areas, EV truck charging stations, underground stormwater retention, and hydrogen fueling station for forklifts.
The project's success required our team to develop strategies around design, value engineering, procurement, and scheduling while upholding the key project deliverables that Amazon outlined. The collaborative effort of all stakeholders ensured the successful completion of the project, meeting all project milestones within the scheduled timeline.
